Jeff Coffin Next Time Yellow

“NEXT TIME YELLOW is the first full group project of my own that I recorded in my home studio (ITA Studio). I’m very happy with the way it turned out and with the way everyone played on it. It’s loose and intimate, it feels great all the way thru and I’m very grateful to all the incredible artists who put their creativity into this project. Thank you all from the deepest part of me. Nashville has become what I always hoped it would when I moved here in 1991 – a truly musically diverse city with incredible improvisors in many, many genres. We continue to cultivate the music and hope you, the listener, enjoy the fruits from our labors of love.” – Peace, JC

Jeff also fronts his own group, Jeff Coffin & the Mu’tet, founded the Nashville Jazz Composers Collective, in 2012 started and continues to run Ear Up Records, formed the Veridian Trio with Felix Pastorius & Jordan Perlson in 2017, has played on countless studio recordings, has recorded multiple solo cd’s, produces, engineers, is a Yamaha & D’Addario Performing Artist, is an avid photographer, and he still finds time to teach saxophone and improvisation at Vanderbilt University in Nashville, TN.

Along the way, Coffin has absorbed an astounding range of influences. “Whether it be New Orleans Second Line, African, Indian Ragas, Brazilian, folk songs, Gypsy music, Alan Lomax field recordings, jazz, funk, etc…” he says, “the spirit and breath of the music is what I take away from the listening and playing. It’s what decides for me if I like it or not…I consider it

As a heavily in-demand Yamaha & D’Addario Performing Artist, Coffin has presented over 300 solo and Mu’tet music clinics from Farmington, Maine to Perth, Australia to Johannesburg, South Africa to students of all ages to rave reviews.

“Jaws drop, eyes pop open and crowds roar…Coffin has solidified himself as respected songwriter, eclectic musician and contemporary pioneer of the saxophone.” – Glide Magazine
